Tropica Bolbitis Heudelotii
Bolbitis Heudelotii is a beautiful aquatic plant that features sheer dark green foliage that exhibits a flowing growth pattern. Commonly known as African Water Fern, Bolbitis Heudelotii is increasing in popularity within the planted tank hobby but remains relatively uncommon and one of the more difficult aquatic plants to find. Bolbitis Heudelotii is generally undemanding but does prefer an aquarium tank with a higher flow as this aquatic plant’s natural habitat provides a quick-moving current. Similar to its popular relative, Bolbitis Difformis Mini, Bolbitis Heudelotii should be attached to a hard surface such as aquarium driftwood or stone. Burying the rhizome will result in rot and the aquatic plant will not survive. Optimal conditions include CO2 injection, strong, flow, and slightly acidic water properties. As one of our personal favorites, Bolbitis Heudelotii provides a delicate and elegant appearance to a planted aquarium tank. We recommend using this aquatic plant in larger sized aquarium tanks, but it can also be used in a nano-sized aquarium tank as well given its slower growth pace. This aquatic plant would look beautiful paired with a darker aquarium driftwood along with other darker hued aquatic plants. If successful, Bolbitis Heudelotii propagates through the division of its rhizome. Gently separate and reattach.
