Product details

The Anubias barteri var. nana ‘Golden’, also known as the Yellow Heart, is a stunning variant of the classic Anubias nana. It is prized for its bright yellow-green leaves that bring a unique and vibrant look to aquascapes. Like other Anubias varieties, the ‘Golden’ version is easy to care for and can thrive in a wide range of water conditions. Its compact size and attractive color make it ideal for adding contrast to the foreground or midground of any aquarium.

Key Features:

  • Bright Yellow-Green Leaves: The vibrant, golden-yellow leaves of Anubias nana ‘Golden’ provide an eye-catching contrast against darker green plants, adding brightness to aquascapes.
  • Slow Growth: Similar to other Anubias species, the ‘Golden’ variant grows slowly, making it a great choice for low-maintenance aquariums.
  • Versatile Placement: Anubias nana ‘Golden’ can be attached to hardscape elements like rocks and driftwood or placed in the foreground and midground to add color contrast. The rhizome should always be above the substrate to avoid rotting.
  • Low Light Requirements: This plant thrives under low to medium light, making it suitable for low-tech setups without intensive lighting or CO2 requirements.

Care Requirements:

  • Lighting: Anubias nana ‘Golden’ prefers low to medium lighting. Under higher light levels, care should be taken to avoid algae growth on its leaves. Subdued lighting helps keep the plant healthy while highlighting its bright foliage.
  • CO2: CO2 supplementation is not required but can encourage slightly faster growth and promote healthier leaves, especially under brighter lighting conditions.
  • Water Parameters: This plant is highly adaptable and does well in a pH range of 6.0-7.5 and temperatures between 20-28°C. It can tolerate fluctuating water conditions, making it a resilient choice for most aquariums.
  • Trimming: Due to its slow growth, minimal trimming is required. Occasionally remove older or damaged leaves to keep the plant looking vibrant and healthy.

Planting Tips:

  • Attach Anubias nana ‘Golden’ to rocks, driftwood, or other hardscape elements using thread or fishing line until it anchors naturally. Avoid burying the rhizome in the substrate, as this can lead to rot.
  • Its bright, yellow-green leaves make it an excellent contrast plant for darker backgrounds or green foliage, providing a pop of color in the aquarium.
  • Ensure good water flow to prevent debris buildup on the leaves and keep the plant looking its best.
