Product details

The Pogostemon helferi, also known as “Downoi,” is a unique and attractive aquatic plant with curly, bright green leaves that form a rosette shape. Its compact size and striking appearance make it an ideal choice for aquascaping, especially in the foreground or midground of aquariums. Grown in-vitro, this plant is free from pests, algae, and contaminants, ensuring a healthy and clean start for your aquarium.

Key Features:

  • Curly, Compact Leaves: Pogostemon helferi is known for its distinctive curly leaves and rosette-like growth, adding texture and visual interest to aquascapes.
  • Great for Foreground or Midground: Its small size and bushy growth make it perfect for the foreground or as an accent plant in the midground of larger aquariums.
  • In-Vitro Cultivation: Grown in sterile conditions, this plant is free from snails, algae, and harmful pathogens, making it safe to introduce to your tank.
  • Aquascaping Essential: Its unique structure and vibrant green color make it a standout plant for creating contrast and enhancing the overall aesthetic of your aquascape.

Care Requirements:

  • Lighting: Pogostemon helferi thrives in medium to high lighting, which helps maintain its compact, bushy form and promotes vibrant green coloration.
  • CO2: While it can grow without CO2 supplementation, adding CO2 will improve growth, making the plant more compact and lush, particularly in high-tech setups.
  • Water Parameters: This plant prefers slightly acidic to neutral water, with a pH range of 6.0-7.5 and temperatures between 22-28°C. A nutrient-rich substrate supports healthy growth and strong root development.
  • Trimming: Regular trimming encourages the plant to stay compact and produce new shoots. Trimmings can be replanted to propagate more plants and expand coverage in the aquarium.

Planting Tips:

  • Rinse the plant thoroughly to remove the nutrient gel before planting in your aquarium.
  • Plant Pogostemon helferi in nutrient-rich substrate, spacing it evenly in the foreground or midground to allow for bushy, compact growth.
  • Ensure medium to high lighting and CO2 supplementation for the best results in terms of growth and appearance.
