Product details

The Utricularia graminifolia is an extraordinary aquatic plant known for its delicate, grass-like appearance and ability to form a lush carpet in aquariums. It is part of the bladderwort family, a group of carnivorous plants, but in aquariums, it functions as a purely decorative species. Its fine, bright green leaves create a natural, meadow-like effect, making it a favorite for foreground planting. Grown in-vitro, this plant arrives free from pests, algae, and contaminants, ensuring a healthy start for your aquascape.

Key Features:

  • Grass-Like Appearance: Utricularia graminifolia features thin, grass-like leaves that form a dense, vibrant green carpet, perfect for creating a natural meadow look in aquascapes.
  • Unique Carnivorous Plant: While it belongs to the carnivorous bladderwort family, it poses no threat to aquarium inhabitants and serves as a purely decorative plant.
  • In-Vitro Cultivation: Grown in sterile conditions, this plant is free from snails, algae, and pathogens, ensuring a clean and healthy start for your tank.
  • Ideal for Foreground Carpeting: Utricularia graminifolia spreads quickly under the right conditions, making it an excellent choice for creating a lush green carpet in the foreground of aquariums.

Care Requirements:

  • Lighting: Utricularia graminifolia requires medium to high lighting to maintain its compact, grassy form and encourage rapid spreading. Insufficient lighting may result in slow growth or sparse carpeting.
  • CO2: CO2 supplementation is highly recommended to promote faster, more vibrant growth, especially for creating a dense carpet effect.
  • Water Parameters: This plant prefers slightly acidic to neutral water, with a pH range of 5.0-7.0 and temperatures between 22-28°C. Clean, nutrient-rich water is essential for optimal growth.
  • Trimming: Occasional trimming helps maintain its neat, carpet-like appearance and encourages lateral spreading. Trimmings can be used to propagate the plant further.

Planting Tips:

  • Rinse the plant thoroughly to remove the nutrient gel before planting.
  • Divide the plant into small portions and plant them evenly across the substrate to promote even spreading and rapid coverage of the aquarium floor.
  • Ensure medium to high lighting and CO2 supplementation for faster establishment and to maintain a dense, lush carpet.
